I was born in Chicago, IL and at the age of 10 moved to Howard County, MD. I joined the Air Force at 19 and spent the next 24 years on active duty all over the world. It was during my military career that I discovered a love of teaching/instructing. After retiring in 2019, my wife and I transitioned from a local HIIT fitness establishment to Iron Grip CrossFit. I had done physical conditioning, training, and team sports my entire life; I even tried this “new thing called CrossFit” while deployed in 2010 – that didn’t go really well. So when the HIIT training missed the mark in the strength department, I started down the YouTube rabbit hole of what fitness really was – enter Mr. Rich Froning and the CrossFit media special FRONING: The Fittest Man in History. I was hooked on what the human body was actually capable of and wanted to test this on myself with a new goal of being an aspiring Masters Athlete. Still remembering my previous experience, the hardest part of joining this fitness community was walking through the door. I realized my previous mistake was trying to go it alone. A good CrossFit gym, coach and community of athletes makes all the difference.
After being coached correctly in proper technique and movement patterns, my actual fitness journey began. The CrossFit methodology works and will transform your entire life. My job as a coach is to open this door for people, anyone, who wants to be as fit as they can – to live life to its fullest.
