My initial exposure to CrossFit was when I was stationed at Osan Air Base in South Korea where I found a community of people willing to grind through workouts at 5am with me. I had always loved group fitness classes like cycling and step aerobics, but wanted to challenge myself with new movements and lifts that I hadn’t tried before. I loved that programming and coaching meant all I had to do was show up, and it was motivating to workout with familiar faces each day. I liked that I could actually see changes in my body and performance. As a coach, I love introducing athletes to movements they have never done before and watching them progress through their fitness journeys.
