The strict press is a great opportunity to really practice some of the fundamental elements of all overhead press variations. Proper grip. elbow position, straight bar path, pressing up not back, finishing with lock out. All these and other elements are found in every variation of the overhead press. But the strict press is the foundational movement for all the other variants. Master the strict press, and your push press and jerk will also improve, simply by virtue of having mastered the fundamentals of overhead lifting.
