Don’t get scared when the weight feels heavy or the set suddenly becomes hard. Instead, bear down, dig in and do your best to finish. You just may surprise yourself. And when you are spotting somebody doing the lift, don’t get scared when the weight looks heavy or the set suddenly slows down and looks hard. Instead, let the lifter bear down, dig in and do their best to finish. They just might surprise you. If the lifter gets stuck and there is a clear and obvious safety concern, then you get to be the spotter who helped your friend live to lift another day. If you help too early though, you may just have ruined what would have been a PR attempt.
