Flexibility = The ability to maximize range of motion at a given joint. While we don’t seek to achieve the contrived contortions of a master yogi, (props to those who do) we do seek to have enough range of motion to optimize our capacity in functional movements such as the squat, press, clean and snatch. If we are flexible enough for these and other functional movements in our repertoire, then we’re on the right track.
