The “conventional” style of deadlift that we most often use is the one we use most for a reason. It translates well into the olympic lifts and jumping positions. It also places less stress on the hips than the “sumo” style deadlift favored by many powerlifters. That being said, there are some important things we can learn from exploring the sumo deadlift at high loads.
