Iron Grip CrossFit – CrossFit
We don’t do sumo deadlifts often in CrossFit. But that doesn’t mean they’re not a great and useful exercise. We prefer the conventional deadlift for its greater functionality and the fact that it places less stress on the hips. That being said, the sumo deadlift is just what some athletes need to strengthen their hips and take stress off their backs. The functional limitations are still there (we can’t clean, snatch or effectively squat from the sumo stance). But some limited exposure is warranted.
